Email Alarms Stop Working

Hi there,

I'm having a sporadic problem with our Lookout email alerting.  We have a system set up to monitor sewer lift stations which generates alarms on based on pump conditions, well levels, etc...  When an alarm occurs, the Lookout email utility is used to send an email out to relevant monitoring personel.  On occassion (meaning several times over the last few months), this email functionality ceases to work.
Restarting the Lookout software does not fix the problem.

However, if the "Send=" field is modified and then reset back to its original value, email functionality returns.

Any thoughts?

Hi Andrew,

Does the Lookout program display any message saying the e-mail was sent or not or is there no message at all?   If restarting Lookout does not fix the problem does re-compliling the code help?

Regards,

Steven B.

Hi there,

No message displayed at all, the emails just stop working.  This seems to be occuring about once every two weeks now.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by recomplie.  Could you clarify?

"recompile" just means to open the .lks file which is the source code, and save it. It will be compiled into a .l4p file. not sure if it will help.
Is there any special event in windows before the lookout email object stops working? such as windows hibernates, network disconnected, etc...
what's your lookout version and logos version? You can find the logos version here, \Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\Logos\, right click a file and see properties, the version might be 4.x.x
what's your OS?

Hi there,

Lookout Version is 6.0, Build 5

Logos Version is 4.5.1.593

OS is Windows XP Professional

Nothing seems to occur out of the ordinary when the emails cease to work - they just stop working without notice.

I think you'd better upgrade to 6.0.2 first. And then try to recompile the source file.
