I would like to convert an application using lookout 4.5 and a modbus object to an allen bradley object without rewriting the application.

I am changing plc's and need to use the same process and was wondering if there was a way to change the driver object and reconnect everything within lookout without doing each one at a time?

Hi,

The easiest way would be to first export your configured Modbus datamembers to an Excel sheet (From the menu: Object>>Edit Datamember Configuration...>>Select Process>>Object).

Next, create the AB object with a few dummy connections to different types of registers and coils (just so you know their format). Export these to another Excel sheet. Fill-in AB sheet by mapping all Modbus info' into it. Reimport!

And to change the various displays and connections to buttons and switches, you will want to open the LKS file in a text editor, do global replaces, and compile the LKS file.

This probably sounded very easy. In reality, you may have to go back-and-forth a little with this whole process to get everything straightened out.

Hope this
helps.

Regards,

Khalid
