IAOPC lost connectivity, item values all XXX, how do I fix this?

Using IA OPC (not Lookout), we had communications between LabVIEW and the serial programming port on our GE FANUC PLC. To free up the programming port, we installed an ethernet card on the PLC to establish comms with LabVIEW. Now IA OPC says the quality for each item is "value bad" and the values come up as XXX, whether I configure the server for serial or ethernet. Perhaps something got changed in our setup during this time, but I don't see anything obvious. When I connect to the server all item icons turn green; we just don't get any values. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Hello,

Which OPC driver object are you using to communicate with your GE Fanuc PLC? There's the GE_VersaMAX object used to communicate via ethernet, but what were you using when communicating serially? You might want to re-check the way the driver object is configured.

Also, have you been able to read server data using any other OPC clients? You could try using Server Explorer, which installs with LabVIEW, to do simple OPC I/O without any programming. Server Explorer is located at Start>>All Programs>>National Instruments>>Server Explorer.

Please let me know if you still have more questions about this.

Vineet A.

i also need to connect my GE Fanuc PLC to Labview. If you have a SNP driver or custom driver for this (as u mentioned in your post), please send it to me immediately.

Hello Safarnss,

The Industrial Automation(IA) OPC Server has the GE Fanuc Versamax driver to communicate with the PLC via ethernet. Please refer to the following link for more information about IA OPC server.

The following link has a list of PLCs that is supported by the same.
