Lookout 5.0 Web Client Crashes Internet Explorer 6.0

Hi

I have Lookout Version 5.0 (Build 7). I have installed the Version 5.0 Fixes File. I have a very small client server test process that I want to get working on the web. The process works fine when used as a regular network clent connecting to the server. If I try to access it from the web as soon as it starts to load the web page I get "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvienance" If I click on error details I get:

AppName : iexplorer.exe                      AppVer 6.0.2900.2120         ModName : Unkown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0                 Offset : 00000000

I have tried this from 4 different computers with the same results. On the first time I loaded the page it downloads and installs the Lookout Web Client 5.0 successfully and then it loads the LookoutCtl.5.0.0.7 ActiveX control and then it crashes with the above error. I have seenthe document "Lookout Web Client Troubleshooting" document Id :25LFBIJ6 The only one that applies here was Document 25LCF1J6 but it was for Lookout version 4.5 and did not apply. Any helkp you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Are you running the web client on a multiprocessor machine?
Do you click "refresh" during loading?

Hi Ryan

The machine that is serving the web page has Win XP Pro and I am using IIS version 5.1 for the web server. This machine has one of the new Intel Duo Core processors (not sure if this counts as multiprocessor or not) and the other 3 being used as clients are P4's 2.8 GHz, and P4's 3.0 GHz. I believe they are hyper-threading and have seen a KB article concerning this on Lookout version 5.1 but it did not say it applied to version 5.0? The interesting thing is that if I load the client process on the machines in question the client process runs fine using the lookout player version 5.0 just not through the web interface.

I have also seen the refresh or close IE crash KB article also but this thing crashes as soon as it loads no other interaction from me? Any more help you can give me would be greatly appreciated as I am getting rather frustrated with this.

Thank You

Rob

I believe the dual core processor is the multiprocessor the kb says. This might be the cause.
Is it possbile for you to test the web server and web client both on single processor machine?

Ryan,
It looks like this is in fact the problem.  I confirmed that the web player will work on single core machines.
Is there a possible workaround/solution for this issue?

After some more searching around, I found this document from NI

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/63566A3138D014A486256F2C0047E32D

The fix is for Lookout 5.1 and requires replacing the file lookout5108.ocx.  I am however currently using Lookout 5.0 Build 7.  Does anyone know where I can get a fix for Lookout 5?  Is there a lookout5007.ocx replacement?...I have searched with no avail.

Thanks,
Jason
