Lookout beginner

Hi everyone,

I have the task of implimenting a 6 site radio tower alarm system using Zetron's 1716 RTU and the NI Lookout software.

The tower sites will monitor things like door alarm, temp, tower light, power fail etc. They will communicate back to the lookout via RS 232 on county owned microwave. There will be 2 PC's , one at the radio tech's office and one at the 911 center.

Ok, here's the cool part...how in the world does someone who's neve rused this get started ?

I have went through the manual and it bascially goes from "thank you for buying lookout" to "editing a sql dabase with notepad". Ok well not quite that exact but you get the point.

Anyone have any reference, good examples , ideas  for a newbie ?

I did go through the exmaples in the software and the help files, and something just isn't clicking.

Not a expert on active x, sql, objects...etc.

Anyone ?

Have you read this article? It can give you a general idea of Lookout, and then follow the developer manual to learn more.

If possible, you can attend the Lookout course, which is the best way to learn Lookout.
