win xp settings and netdde

What kind of settings, ports and services do I have to change to get netDDE work with excel and Lookout? No matter what I do I cant red the excel values in Lookout. I believe I have configured the ddeshare etc correct.

It works very well on my computer.

Check if the configurations are ok. Care the Application Name and Topic Name.

You can test on the same computer first. If it doesn't work, I believe it's the configuration issue.

When I try to acces the  trusted ddeshare (Excel) from Lookout, the computer freezes for a couple of seconds. It doesnt seem like there is contact between the two computers, eventhought I'm able to ping between them. When I set up a test DDE local (lookout an excel on same computer) connection to excel everything works perfectly. What kind of port, user accounts etc, computer names etc do I have to have? Excel runs on a standard installation XP pro and Lookout on a Win server 2003.

Lookout has never been tested on Server 2003. Maybe this is the issue, but I have no idea of the port or account.

Do you have another XP computer to have a try?

I have tried to connect with xp to xp too, but I believe its a network problem. Ive decided to upgrade the "serverside" so that I can use OPC instead.
