Netdde Failure

Hello everyone,

I am attempting to automate the collection of data from a GC into Lookout and am utilizing a NetDDE connection.  The connection works for a few days and then I get a DDE failure alarm in Lookout.  Once i restart Lookout, the problem is fixed and everything works fine.  Any solution to this problem?  I suspect it might have to do with network relability.  If so, is there a way to connect the GC and Lookout computers via serial cable for NetDDE transport?

Thanks!

Does GC mean gas chromatograph? or something else?
where is the DDE service? It's running on the GC, or another computer?
DDE is for the communication between applications running on same computer or on different computers over a network.

Sorry about the confusion.  Yes, gas chromatograph.  The Lookout file taking in the data is on a seperate computer from the GC computer.  The GC computer cut and pastes the data from the GC software into an Excel file and Lookout reads the data across the network using NetDDE.  Thanks!

So, if you want to connect Lookout computer to GC computer via serial port, I don't think it's possible to use DDE.
But you can use cross cable to connect them directly, which should have a stable performance.
