Process Files do not download to web client

Ok, this is a little complicated, but I'm going to stick to the simple case. Server files (Lookout 5.1) exported just fine to web server (same as process server). A cleanly installed (latest from NI ftp site) Web-Player tries to connect....lookout.dat and process.fil get created in client Lookout 5.1 directory and it looks like I'm going to get a process window (window background goes gray). But then I get an error that the process file cannot be opened on the local client lookout path (error is "Cannot open specified file!" and dialog title is "C:\Client-Lookout-Path\Process-File-Name.l4p". It seems there is no attempt to download the files from the webserver, or they just don't get saved to the local hard-drive for some reason.
After I copy all the files manually, I get a permission dialog box for the domain and it works.

Why don't I get a permission dialog box prior to the initial error? Does the process download have to be unrestricted?

I'd really like to get this thing working!

It first appears that the Lookout Web Player is not prompting for this permission dialog box. What types of permissions are set on this computer? I do not see these permission dialogs when I create a Lookout Web Client on our internal systems.

If this does not seem related, I have seen several different support issues with Lookout Web Clients. They are usually the result of security settings in Internet Explorer not allowing ActiveX components to download. There is Knowledgebase that describes almost all of the issues we have seen.

If the problem persists please feel free to contact support.

erblock,

Did you ever get this problem resolved?

I am having a similar problem where all files except the process files download to computers running the web player that ARE NOT on our domain.

I waited an hour an fifteen minutes for the process files to appear in the Lookout 6.2 folder and they never showed up, but I could easily map to the folder on the server and transfer the process files over in less than 5 minutes.

Jason,

Did you receive the dialog box asking whether to download the files? Are you logged in as adminstrator or have admin access on that computer? I have found that exporting across domains can be tricky and that manually copying the files tends to be the quickest method.

Hope this helps!

Andy,

I did get the dialogue box to download and I am set up as an administrator. The cbx and graphics files were downloaded but when the .lkp file was to be downloaded, it did not happen. My .lkp is about 5Mb, but the VPN stats showed over 60Mb downloaded after about 45 minutes, and I had no lkp file in the folder in which it was supposed to download.

As far as manually copying the files, that is the way I am going, but since I am doing that, I am installing the client rather than the player. The only reason I installed the player is so that I would only have to update my process file(s) on one computer rather than having to manually update many computers. Fortunately, the majority of the computers (~110) running Lookout are in the domain compared to the ones outside of the domain (~30).
