Process-to-Process "Links" Vanash

I have 4 panels in Process A ....controlled (activated & maximized) by a
sequencer in Process B. This arrangement worked fine for the last month;
However, after recompiling the processes the "links" between the processes
have vanished. The command lines and arguments are still in tact - but the
panel control from the sequencer is not functional.

Recompiling in different orders does not improve or alter the situation.
The only way I can reestablish the Panel/Sequencer connection is to delete
the "Panel-Active and Panel-Maximum" commands for each Panel then reenter
them.

I am also experiencing an identical problem with 1024 indicators. I DO NOT
want to delete and reenter all of those!!!

What has gone wrong? and is there an
y easy recovery?

I tried something similar here but wasn't able to reproduce your problem. What type of connection paths did you have between the two processes.. relative, absolute, etc.?

Are you trying to compile this on a different computer.. or has your machine name changed since?

In any case, you can open the LKS files of the processes in any text editor and make changes there. This is especially very helpful when you have to make global changes like find-and-replace, etc. Make sure you save them back as LKS files (and not txt or doc files).

Also, it goes without saying, backup your originals frequently!

Rgds,

Khalid 🙂

This happened again - I still have no root cause of the problem. This time
I was just changing some object names unrelated to the panel controls.
---------
The 1024 buttons started working again. I can't explain what I did to make
that happen (maybe when I started kicking the dang thing?...lol)

That is the answer - Symbolic Links. I used a Symbolic Link for everything
that references another process and a lot of my little Ghosts disappeared -
not only the "Vanishing Links" thing.
Thank you for the assistance.

You should have a symbolic link to process A in process B and all controls should be linked there. Linking directly from one process to another can be somewhat unstable (I have been told), You might could try using the symbolic link but it will require re-configuring all of your connections. Also be aware of your path names, when you are in the object browser or establishing a connection the root directory should be the same. When you launch the object browser it places your computer as the root but when you establish a connection 'universe' is the root. When universe is the root make sure you expand your computer and not the network, this can easily screw up the path names and as soon as you try and run this from another machine nothing will work.
