URGENT: Citadel Crashing; $alarm problmes

I have a problem that developed over the past week or so with Lookout 5.0 - whenever I start Lookout (and open my process) I get the following error:

lkcitd.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.

also - this problem (which I think is related) - the $alarm object does not work properly - when I try to expand the object in the Object Explorer, nothing happens, and the parts of my process that display the number of active alarms within a certain area are x'd out - please help.

Here is something that might help - a couple of NI knowledge base articles. It would appear the first article only applies to Lookout 4.0.1 or 4.5 and Logos 4.2 but it is still valid with Lookout 4.5 and Logos 4.3 (current shipping versions).

On occasion I have encountered problems in the alarm area also. The last article mentioned briefly deleting alarm related files from Citadel. The next knowledge base article also mentions deleting files (to remove unwanted areas), but it also works to fix a corrupted alarm database.
