ascii driver

A greeting, my question is in the use of driver ASCII of lookout. I have a hardware that does not have protocol, only one exit RS232. For which I must read the value that displays this hardware. I already did it with other software, now I want to know if lookout for such case can be used. It already tries but I see that the data must be ASCII so that it reads it. To thank for any aid.

Hi Vlady_1:

ASCII object is a general object designed for using with ANY device that accept commands in ASCII FORMAT and is able to send responses in ASCII FORMAT.

If you want to use it, you should first know what the commands are(How to build a correct question), and how the answer looks like, in order to decode it.
