nicitdl5.exe

I have several computers running Lookout 6.0 under Windows XP-SP2, all with the same application. The Windows Firewall is OFF. The application uses OPC Server for to communicate with a New design Delta Tau Motion Card. I have noticed that the computer slows down its performance. Looking into the Task Manager\Processes, the CPU Usage is as follows:

OPC Server: 20 to 30 %

Lookout 6.0: 17 to 20 %

nicitdl5.exe: 45 to 50 %

All these make a 100 % of usage!!!

Question: How to reduce the CPU Usage due to nicitdl5.exe?

NI Software : Lookout version 6.0

Driver Version :

OS : Windows XP

Hi Rudy,

This could be a corrupt database issue or a citadel performance issue. What is the CPU usage at process start up; when is this high level of CPU usage triggered? Does the CPU usage ever come down. If it is a corrupt database issue, I suspect there is something not right about the interaction between citadel and SQL server. As you may know, all the alarms are logged to SQL database and not to the citadel database. However, citadel takes care of logging these alarms to SQL and hence if this communication isn't right, citadel may consistently try to open connection to the SQL database which might explain the CPU usage. What happens if you detach all your databases from MAX? Does the CPU usage go down?

There were some known performance issues with citadel in Lookout 6.0 and have been corrected in Lookout 6.0.2. I suggest you do a free upgrade to Lookout 6.0.2 and this will help increase performance. http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/506/lang/en Please look at the read me file for installation instructions.

Have a great day!

Regards,
Prashanth
