Hi,
Currently developing a Vision system using the following:
I need to adjust the aspect ratio of the DVI-I output. You can change the resolutions using the IMAQ Video Out Display Mode, but the resolution options are only 4:3. Since I have this output connected to a 16:9 screen (and you pretty much can't buy 4:3 screens anymore!!!), I have no choice but to stretch the image.
Looking at the EVS specs, it says it uses the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 which allows 16:9 Aspect Ratio.
Thanks

Hi Christopher,
On the EVS (under RT) the video chipset is controlled by a VESA driver. It enumerates the available video modes from the BIOS using the standardized VESA interface. I believe that only 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions are returned from this call on this particular grahics chipset. I'm not sure off-hand if this is because the VESA spec does not define 16:9 resolutions. It might still still be possible to go into a 16:9 resolution manually by some means but our current driver does not let you use any non-enumerated modes.
Another alternative to try would be trying to configure the LCD to display the screen at native resolution rather than stretching it to full-screen. It would not cover the whole screen in this case but should be at the correct aspect ratio.

Thanks Eric. I have already tried your suggestion. The LCD display we are using does not appear to have the capability to set the resolution to native.
Is there a plan to include 16:9 resolution options any time soon?

Hi Christopher,
I am not aware of any plans at this time. However, I can imagine this type of request becoming more common in the future due to display trends. Please feel free to file a product suggestion ( http://digital.ni.com/applications/psc.nsf/default?OpenForm ) so that your request can be tracked.
