CVS 1456 Connection Problems - VISA error?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I bought a new old stock CVS 1456 unit, upgraded its bios and all software, and am having issues getting it to work without errors.  It is connected to a Point Grey Flea2 640x480 camera.  I am using Vision Builder for Automated Inspection 4.0 (trial for now, full version is on order).  The following is a description of the problem.

1.  I can see and connect to the camera via VB for AI or MAX.

2.  There exists a VISA error in MAX along with the camera:

 0xBFFF00A8 (VI_ERROR_NPERMISSION)

viFindRsrc returned 0xBFFF00A8 (Access to the resource or remote machine is denied. This is due to lack of sufficient privileges for the current user or machine.)

Please check the remote machine's settings and make sure you have added this machine's network address to the permission list.

Possible causes for this error:

1.The remote machine you are accessing has not granted you permission.

2. The remote machine you are accessing has denied you permission to access its resources.

3. You may have set up your server with a specific IP address and configured your client machine to different IP address rather than the machine name (ie, the client's IP address is assigned by a DHCP server).

3.  All software appears to be up to date.

4.  There is also an uninstalled NI-IMAQdx that has an IEEE 1394 component.  Currently installed is NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 2.0.5.  When both are installed, the camera is listed twice.  Which of these is best, or necessary, or are both necessary?

5.  The error occurs when I create a new acquisition in VB for AI.  I can access the camera fine, capture images, and change settings.  As soon as I try and run the inspection (which prompts me to save the program to the 1456 unit), the program faults, the inspection fails, and will not allow me to re-acquire any images from the camera until the 1456 unit has been rebooted (reopening the program does not help).

6.  The error that pops up after trying an acquisition from the 1456 device is:

 ---------------------------

Open Inspection Error

---------------------------

The validation of the inspection returns errors. Possible reasons include:

- Some of the image files used by Simulate Acquisition steps are not available on the remote target.

Save the folder of images to the "c:\User Images" folder on the target.

- The VIs used by the Run LabVIEW steps are not available on the remote target.

Save the VIs or LLBs to the "c:\User VIs" folder on the remote target.

- Some inspection steps are not supported on this target.

- Inspection step plugins on the target are missing or corrupt.

Details:

State: Inspect - Step 1: "Acquire Image (IEEE 1394) 1" could not be initialized.

7.  I can run the example inspections from the 1456 device with no apparent problems.

Your time is greatly appreciated, I have been struggling with this error for a few days now, and any help is appreciated.  Thanks,
Tom

This problem was solved.  Apparently the 1456 does not like the Point Grey Flea2 color cameras, but works fine with their mono 8-bit counterparts.  Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

What resolution Flea2 were you using? If you were using one of the 5MP color ones, then I expect you were likely running into memory issues as those images are quite large...
