Hi,
I have recently got hold of a CVS 1458 machine. I tried to connect it to my workstation using a lan cable. However the cvs system doesn't seem to show up on either the MAX or Vision Builder program. I have tried the trouble shooting guide from the manual but it doesnt seems to work. Is there anyone that can help me out with this.
I am current using a cat 6 rj45 cable to connect to my workstation which is using a usbc-ethernet port adapter cable as it does not have a lan port.

I'm pretty sure you'd need a crossover cable to connect to the CVS ethernet port to ethernet port. Nots ure what effect a USBC adapter would have.

Hi, thanks for your comments. I have actually tried connected my balser AcA780-75gm ccd camera directly to my workstation via lan cable with the usbc-lan adapter and it works perfectly fine. I have also tried to connect the CVS to another workstation with a inbuilt ethernet port and the CVS did not appear in the MAX program as well.
I will try the suggestion of using a cross-over cable but I feel that its going to have the same problem as well. I am hoping that it is not a hardware problem

You need to set an IP address for both ends. If nothing is set then it will use a Link Local Address. Check this by opening command prompt and typing ipconfig You should see your connector give you an address of 169.254.XXX.YYY. Gig-e cameras are set up to deal with this but the CVS will not be. Check the manual to see if it has a default IP address and set your PC to have an IP address that is 10 away. e.g if the IP address of the CVS is 192.168.1.100 then set your to be 192.168.1.110. Set your subnet mask to match that of the CVS. And it should then appear in MAX. If there is no default address, plug both into a router and they will then be able to communicate. Set both to have static IP addresses, like above, and then you will be able to get rid of the router and plug in directly.
You should not need a cross over cable as most modern ethernet PHYs will automatically do that for you (anything in the last 10 years)
Good luck

Hello If you go to/etc/natinst/share you will find no - rt.ini and lvrt.conf. Time zone is located in the [LVRT] section of ni - rt.ini (RTTarget.TimeZone = "Etc/GMT + 6" for example "), and the startup application are defined in lvrt.conf. I hope this helps! MyFordBenefits
