Camera Initialization using Matrox Helios Frame Grabber

Camera Initialization vi

We have a Dalsa Piranha P2-23-08k40 at 1x8192 pixels Line Scan Camera that is connected to a Matrox Helios XCL Frame Grabber board where MAX does not detect the camera. We are looking for a Camera Initialization program that can read in the Matrox Intellicam DCF camera configuration (ASCII text) file. The vi would also have user inputs for detector (pixel) exposure time or frame time and radiometric sensitivity. The camera would be internally triggered by a subsequent call to an IMAQ snap or grab function. An output would be to initialize the camera to full 1x8192 resolution frame grabbing. Another output would be an IMAQ Session along with error messaging. Perhaps another solution would be to convert the Intellicam DCF file to an IMAQ Camera Configuration File with a user input for either path\filename or an equivalent character text name.

By the way, we have already purchased Alliance Vision drivers that link’s the Helios to LabVIEW and we have found this to be totally inadequate by fixing the frame resolution to a small array. No way to adjust the frame (pixel size) resolution or exposure time or sensitivity as Alliance Vision uses DLL’s to initiate the camera. If we cannot find a straightforward software solution then we will have to purchase an NI Frame Grabber.

We are using NI LabVIEW 8.2 under Windows XP Operating System.

PBJ,

If you decide to go with the NI solution here is the link to all of our Camera Link Framegrabbers.
