Color Pattern Matching - 'Ignore Black and White' does not retain setting

I am trying to create a template in the Color Pattern Matching setup in Vision Assistant, such that any black area is ignored for matching purposes. I have created the template image but when I change the setting in Ignore Black and White to 'Black', and click OK, and then double click Color Pattern Matching again, this is set back to Default.

Is this by design? I cannot understand why this setting would not be stored when saving. Thanks for any tips.

I am using Labview 2014 14.0 (64)

Ignore Black and White and the Saturation Threshold controls are Learning options. They are only applied when you click on the Create Template button to create a new template. Changing these options after you created the template will not affect the matching.

These parameters are not saved in the script, because they are not runtime options.

I agree that this is a bit confusing and for consistency, we probably still should save them in the script, and restore them on edit.

I filed CAR 553191 to address the issue in a future release.

Hope that answered your question.

Best regards,

Thanks for the response. If you will accept my 2 cents worth, it seems more logical to include the option inside the template creation interface, particularly if this is a property associated with a specific template. To me it seems unclear what the checkbox means, when you are in the template selection area, it's not clear whether it's actually a property of the currently selected template, or to any future template that you might select, nor is it clear that the option only applies if it is checked before template creation. The commonly understood meaning of a checkbox is that if you change the value the associated functionality will then also change, but in this case if you select a new template and then check the tick box the setting is not applied. Maybe the option should be greyed to indicate that no further change can be made after the template is created.

More clarification in the help file is probably also warranted.

Thanks for the response.
