Customizing ROI Draw Tools for Vision Image Container

For the ROI draw tools that appear on the side of a Vision Image Container, is there anyway to customize the shape and size of the pen?

Hello Don,

To make cosmetic changes to the Image Display control, I would just creat a custom control off it. You can right-click on the control and choose Advanced >> Customize...  to bring up the custom control front panel. Then, click on the button in the taskbar with a wrench icon to customize the look of items in the control such as shape and size.

Hi - I think you are misunderstanding my question.  I use the ROI tools in some cases to draw shapes on the image.  I then use the IMAQ Overlay ROI to overlay the ROI onto the image, and following that, I do an IMAQ Merge Overlay in order to make the ROI an actual part of the image.  So when I draw the original ROI, I might need a thicker or thinner line for the ROI.  I want to be able to control line size. For example, the picture control draw function 'Draw Round Rect.vi' has a pen input cluster, one of whose elements is the size of the line.  I need to be able to do this exact type of thing using the Vision Image.

Hi Don,

Sorry about that - I definitley misunderstood your question the first time.There is no way to change the thickness of the ROI contour in the Image Display control. Ok - I finally got the chance to look at this today.  Ultimately, both the Draw and Thickener approach fall short.  The Draw has limited shape options and no pen thickness option.  It would seem to make sense for Vision R&D to just add more customization capability to the ROI tools.   The ROI tool, which has multiple shape draw options that the IMAQ Draw fx does not have by the way, should have further customization capability, which would then make it ideal for merged information into an image.  I will post this suggestion to the IDEAS Exchange area.
