Delete IP Camera from MAX?

I posted this in the LabVIEW forum, but was told to post here as well.

I am using IMAQdx with the "IP Camera Adapter" mentioned in NI Document 60986GIJ .I was sucessfully able to stream to video from the camera. I am trying to delete the reference to that camera in MAX, but i cant.

I have also tried the following, deleting the file in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\National Instruments\NI-IMAQdx\Data, which reappears when MAX is restarted.

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/How-to-remove-cam-from-quot-NI-IMAQdx-devices-quot-in-MAX/td...

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled max, and have reset the config data for max. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the "IP Camera Adapter", which also does not help. The IMAQdx device is always listed.

Anyone have any insight into how I can delete the device?

Hi ademedeiros,

I looked into the IP Camera Adapter, and essentially what it does is create an emulated DirectShow camera. As long as this emulated camera is installed on your system, it will show up in MAX, since MAX displays all the cameras it can detect.

In order to get rid of this device in MAX, you would need to remove the emulated camera from your system. This would be on the side of the IP Camera Adapter application. Since uninstalling the IP Camera Adapter program didn't accomplish this I tried to find further information on the third party application, but I wasn't able to find any specific instructions on removing a camera connection from your system.

Is this camera in MAX causing any other issues in your system?

Hi Emily,

The camera is not causing any issues with MAX, but I would like to delete it to be able to modify camera parameters (IP, Port etc) which I cannot do through the config utility.

Thanks,

Andrew

There is no way to delete it in MAX because it just lists cameras it finds connected via DirectShow. Unless you actually open it, it should not affect your ability to configure it using a 3rd-party application. If you close MAX, there is no way it is touching the camera and when you are done configuring it it should use whatever new settings you have applied (storage of those settings is up to the driver you are using).

I understand that this is handled outside of MAX, but I figured i'd give this forum a try to see if anyone had prior experience with the sofware.

The real problem is that when I attempt to view video through MAX, MAX crashes and gives me the following error: Exception: Access violation (0xC0000005) at EIP=0x7752BE33
