I don't think it's possible either.
Are you getting a particular error when you capture? Have you tried basing it off on one of the monochrome Spyder 3 camera files such as this one?

Seems a logical thing to try but unfortunately no luck. I think the real problem is that the 1428 can't handle the clock speed for the color camera. This particular camera isn't shown in the Camera Advisor so I made the assumption that if the mono version of the Spyder 3 worked with the card (as shown on the Camera Advisor) the color one would too.

So, you may be correct. It looks like the Camera Files we have up are for their 40 MHz cameras. You may want to consider getting the 1427 instead, which should be able to handle the higher 80 Mhz data rate.
Alternatively, Dalsa may have software to slow down the camera output, which would save you the pain of the return.
