How can I do image acquisition with LabView running on a W2K based laptop?

Most of the image acquisition hardware is PCI or PXI compatible; very little is said about using a laptop. For a non-PXI, portable system, I'd like to acquire images with a laptop.

If you want an NI based solution, about your only option is firewire. Another possibility is an external PCI slot that connects to a laptop and allows you to use any PCI board (look at www.magma.com). Otherwise, you would need to find a laptop based video acquisition card that you can use with LabVIEW. I am not aware of any solutions like this, but it could exist.

If I were you, I would call Robert Eastlund at Graftek (800) 441-2118. He can help you figure out what the best firewire camera or alternative solution is for your application.
