I don't know if vision software is included, I have NI-IMAQ 2.5.2.

Hello,
I have NI-IMAQ installed on my computer, does that mean that I have IMAQ Vision also? For some reason when I try to for example use the Basic Color Aquisition.vi under the Search IMAQ Examples. Then under the NI-IMAQ Examples is where it is. When I try to use it, the computer looks for but can't find and then asks me to find Winddraw.llb and with other examples it asks me to find WindStart, and some both and also it asks me to find execute, I manually try to locate these files but they are not there and I don't know if they are even on the computer. I have tried to re-install NI-IMAQ 2.5.2, I even enabled the Visual basic and C programming, but the files do not seem to be in any of those either. Also even though the IMAQ user interface is like the DAQ user interface (they both have VI's or they almost look the same anyways), with DAQ which I can make circuits, I don't know how to aquire outside data though. Can I use DAQ examples or VI's to run the CCD Kodak chip that I have hooked up? I can see that it is getting readings under the Measurements and Automation Explorer (MAX), I can snap and grab pictures and see on the Histogram that the CCD chip is recognizing something. Also like in DAQ there is a tutorial, is their a good one for IMAQ? I suppose it might be in IMAQ vision but I don't even know if I have that. If I don't have it, do I need it? like I said before, can it be done through the DAQ VI's and examples? ANyways, I have a PCI-1424 chip and a Kodak KLI-2113 chip. I can get into the labview help for IMAQ vision for but there is not anything in the startup for vision accept a few technical PDF.files and an explore IMAQ which takes you right back to MAX. I don't know what to do with it or how to program a IMAQ VI that will do something. Also for the tutorials, is their something on the web or in the software that user interactive or show you step by step what all these different VI's do when put together? There are so many different little buttons that all look the same that I don't know what the heck they do for me and I don't see something that shows me why I need them. I am a computer programming retard, (A Physics and math Major). Like I said before though, I don't see any IMAQ examples that work, the comp can't find Wind"whatever" files.

Anyways, whatever help you could give me would be great, I appreciate it alot.

Brian,

The Vision toolkit is a separate item that must be purchased from NI. Without it, you can still acquire images but you can't do much with them. It provides all the analysis tools that make vision programming worthwhile. It also provides the display functions, including WindDraw, etc.

You should be able to use the IMAQ examples that use an intensity chart instead of the WindDraw window to display the image.

NI-IMAQ 2.6 adds quite a bit of functionality to the driver software. NI-IMAQ 2.6 is a free upgrade to your current NI-IMAQ, but now you can display at full frame rates on the LabVIEW front panel, save images to file, and acquire from Bayer encoded color cameras.

NI-IMAQ 2.6 is available for download on the NI website.

NI-IMAQ 2.6 also comes with examples that work without buying the IMAQ Vision toolkit for LabVIEW
