IMAQ 2.0 with TI OHCI firewire board and Scion CFW1310M camera?

MAX does not indicate the existence of the board or camera in the "devices and interfaces". The driver for the board is the Windows provided driver. I'm running XP. Any suggestions?

Ultimately I want to monitor an etching process and stop the process when the image stops getting brighter. I have Labview 7 but prefer not to purchase the Vision software if I can avoid it. Any suggestions on this application?

Thanks

NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras only interoperates with FireWire cameras that support the 1394 Trade Association's Industrial and Instrumentation Digital Camera (IIDC) Specification.

I am not familiar with the Scion FireWire camera. Looking at the product page, I see no indication that the Scion FireWire cameras support the IIDC specification. As a matter of fact, it seems that the camera requires a specific TWAIN driver to acquire images.

You're right of course. I'm slow to accept that I spend $2k on a camera that is incompatible. Time to rotate the camera out. Any suggestions of an <2k$ 8bit B/W camera with IIDC compatibility? I don't need speed, super hi resolution, fancy features.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Lux.

You didn't mention what resolution you need.  If 640x480 is fine, I like the Basler A601f, which gives you 60 fps and 10 bit resolution if you want it.  It costs about $1000.  If you want something fancier, I would browse the Graftek website (www.graftek.com).  They have a lot of different cameras available, and can help you select the right one for your application.

National Instrumenst resells the Basler A601F (Part #778785-01) and the Sony XCD-X710 (Part #778849-01). Additionally National Instruments keeps a list of currently supported cameras on our Industrial Camera Advisor.
