IMAQ Correct Calibrated Image necessary?

Hello,
I'm using IMAQ Learn Calibration Template to learn from a grid with Perspective Projection. Then I want to find circular edges in the image, to get the center of circel.
Now my question: Is IMAQ Correct Calibrated Image necessary before doing edge detection or not? In the example Perspecite Calibration Example it isn't used?

Hello  Beko,

if you need real world unit like mm instead of pixel you have to calibrate the image. But its not nessecary to calibrate the image if the result in pixel is ok for you.

Kind regards,

Hello,
I need mm. But is it necessary for edge detection to get a image whitch is corrected with "IMAQ Correct Calibrated" ? In the example they don't use "IMAQ Correct Calibrated" for measurement.

Hello Beko,

so if you need the mm you should use the calibration function. You are able to correct the image or also not. It depends on the application. For example you take a picture from a bottel. And you want measure the distance of the lable on the bottle. If you dont correct the image you measure wrong because the lable on the bottel is normaly distorted. So you have to correct the image. Please look at the Concept Manual in Chapter 3 if you need more information.
