Interfacing LMI Gocator

Hi,

Is it possible to inteface the LMI Gocator 3D sensor via NI-IMAQdx? There is a GenTL driver provided for the sensor. However, I don't know if/how this kind of driver can be directly used for IMAQdx acquisition. The sensor doesn't show up as an IMAQdx device in NI MAX.

Hi Vladimir,

In order to interface with IMAQdx the device must be GigE Vision compliant, so I do not think you will be able to interface the LMI Gocator with the IMAQdx driver.

Hi Vladimir,

LMI is working on a Labview instrument driver for interfacing Gocator to Labview directly. This is planned to be completed before the end of Q3 2012.

In the meantime, we have helped other customers interfacing the Gocator to Labview by wrapping the Gocator SDK in Labview. Please contact our support group at

PS: The Gocator's GenTL driver interfaces Gocator to any software that supports the GeniCam TL (driver layer) standard. Since Gocator doesn't support GigE transport protocol over Ethernet, it can't be used with the IMAQdx acqusition interface

Hi everyone,

The Gocator now comes up a set of VIs that can be used to control and acquire data from the Gocator in real-time. All Gocator can make use of this set of VIs by upgrading to the latest firmware (free of charge).

Dear Mr. Ho

currently we are looking for a solution to measure the strip thickness after a cast process.

We are considering a setup of two Gocator 2350.

We would also like to postprocess / visualize /store / distribute over network the data acquired.

We would like to integrate this data  processing into existing data visualization software using LabView.

Could you supply example VIs or at least a description/overview of their features for real time acquisition to NI LabView?

Hi,

I am using a Gocato sensor with following specification.

Go2 DLL Version: 3.6.4.173

Model: 2370

Firmware Version: 3.5.2.143

I downloaded the LabVIEW VIs from LMI website . The exmaple program gives an error 5989 duing connect. It's not clear what that error means.

I am also wondering if the firmware on the device is compatible or does it need to be updated.
