Is BASLER ACA-2500-14GM a true "Gige Vision" camera?

I found the NI white paper that tells me not all cameras with a gigabit ethernet port are actually "GigE VIsion" cameras.

I looked in the online documentation for the Basler ACA-2500-14GM and found no GigE logo, but I took a chance and bought the camera anyway.

I also purchased a CAT6 gigabit ethernet cable from the same vendor, and the 1/4"-20 tripod adapter, and power supply.

I am thrilled to report that this camera was recognized by the "Measurement And Automation Explorer" and I am up in running in under 5 minutes.

This is what I have showing in the "software" info in MAX:

LabVIEW 2009 (v 9.0.0)

MAX 4.7.1

NI-IMAQdx Device Driver 9.2

NI-IMAQ 4.5

NI-IMAQdx 3.7

I'm getting 2592 x 1944 images at > 15 fps.

Just thought someone on this board would like to know...

Dear MG,

The Basler Ace cameras are both GigE Vision and Genicam compliant.  This is printed on the product's brochure, see http://www.graftek.com/pdf/Brochures/basler/ace.pdf.  There are camera's with that connect via a Gigabit Ethernet port that are not compliant.  Most of these fall into the IP camera category, see http://www.graftek.com/pdf/Brochures/basler/bip2.pdf for examples.  However, there are Gigabit Ethernet, machine vision cameras that are not GigE Vision and Genicam compliant, but these cameras are rare to find nowadays.  Further, there are some GigE Vision and Genicam compliant cameras that have firmware issues that need to be resolved before they will function with the NI-IMAQdx software.  This last category can be frustrating.
