Mikrotron MC1310 with NI-PCIe1429

We have recently purchesed a PCIe1429 board with a Mikrotron MC1310 camera and are having difficulties getting images from the hardware in MAX.  We have loaded the correct camera file from the NI website, but whenever we try to acquire a test image in MAX, we get the following message:

Error 0xBFF60022
Did not recieve all expected video data within the timeout period.

The PCIe card is installed ok and reads fine in MAX.  Communication with the camera is also ok beacause the Mikrotron config utility works fine and settings can be sent and read through the NI hardware, so it seems MAX itself does not seem to want to communicate.

To check the camera file, we downloaded the Camera File Configurator utility (ver 1.1)  but this claims that the file (Mikrotron MC1310.icd) is not a valid camera file.  Unfortunately it does this with all files in the IMAQ/data folder so it doesn't really help to identify the problem.

Am I missing something obvious?

Regards,

Ben

A quick update.

We upgraded to NI-IMAQ 3.1.3 and the correct camera information is now seen in MAX, however the timeout error is still there and we still can't capture images.

Hello Ben,

The error 0xBFF60022 means that for some reason the amount of data you requested was not returned by the camera.  You can try decreasing the acquisition window width and height to see if this helps solve the problem.  I would recommend starting with an acquisition window of: Left Offset 8, Top Offset 8, Width 1200, Height 1000 and if it works, increase the size a little at a time.
As for NI Camera File Generator, we are working on a new version that will support the latest hardware.  The currently available version does not support the 1429, so that is why you are getting the error message.

Thanks,
Brad

Like Frisson, I also have a PCIe 1429 and Mikrotron MC1310 camera and I am experiencing the same problems he has encountered.  I have downloaded the latest (15/12/2005) camera file from NI online but still get the timeout error.  I've also tried the suggestions offered by Brad but they have not helped.  I do have IMAQ 3.5.1.  I was wondering if NI has created a camera file that works for the Mikrontron MC1310 capturing on the PCIe 1429.  This original post is from last year (July 2006) and I am interested if the problem has been resolved!

Hi,

I'm having a look into this for you but could you also post this query on a new thread as more users will be able see it

Hi

Have you seen the following thread? It appears to refer to the same problem you're experiencing:
http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=200&message.id=9210&requireLogin=False

If this doesn't help could you post more details of your system and of the error messages you're receiving?

Thanks and regards,

As an update - everything works fine now - I think updating to the latest IMAQ drivers helped as well as remembering to always use the IMG_ATTR_EXTENDED _MEMORY.vi for memory allocation.

Be careful with tap selection too - I made the mistake of setting the camera to an 8-bit 10 tap config but acquiring it as 8 tap 10bit data which clearly didn't work.  D'oh!

Hope this helps.

Hello All,

I have recently encountered a problem using Mikrotron MC-1310 with Motionblitz director, in that, clicking on the "live" tool shows a blurry image with a background that contains horizontal gridlines.

I have never encountered this problem before and am unsure as to what might be causing this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not familiar with this tool. Do you see the same grid lines when you acquire in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)? The gridlines may be a "feature" of their tool.

Let us know if MAX or LV acquisition works fine.

Thanks,

Brad
