NI-IMAQ for USB camera settings

Hi there,
I'm relatively new to LabVIEW and NI Vision, and I have a question about controlling cameras using IMAQ. I need to write a program that will work with several different cameras (not simultaneously, just different models or makers). For this reason I thought the NI-IMAQ for USB drivers would be a good bet, but they seem to have one drawback - I need to be able to programatically control camera settings such as exposure time without using the dialog box that shows up with the property page vi (for example, the ability to take a quick series of 5 images from the camera, each with a different exposure time). Is it possible to control settings like this without the dialog box? Or if not, does anyone have any suggestions of another strategy?

Thanks!

Hi sboz88,

I don’t think that you can do this with IMAQ for USB.  However if you can find a firewire camera that allows those settings to be changed then you could do it that way.  You should also be able to do this with the camera link cards as they allow things like this to be changed if the camera supports it.
