Is your VI set to run on an RT target by any chance?  Open the front panel and look at the bottom left corner.

No, I don't think so.

I do have the same file copied within my project to my CVS target like shown in the picture.

The dropdown box only shows cameras on the target set in the VI.  So the dropdown box for the CVS VI should only show cameras connected to the CVS.  The dropdown box in the "My Computer" VI should only show cameras connected to your local machine.  You can switch the VI target by clicking the box in the bottom left corner.

If this isn't the problem, I'm running low on ideas of why this isn't working for you.

No, I don't think that is it.  It is showing "My Computer" in the VI, but does not show the camera I am working with.  Thank you for your help.

Since the camera is showing up in MAX, working on your CVS, but not showing up in the VI you copied from under the CVS target, I think it might be related to copying the VI and the dropdown box not "refreshing" to My Computer. I think there are two things worth trying here:

  • Could you try opening up a Snap or Grab example on your computer (Help >> Find Examples ... >> Browse (Task) >> Hardware Input and Output >> Vision Acquisition >> NI-IMAQdx >> High-Level >> Grab.vi) and see if your camera plugged into your PC shows up.
  • In the VI you copied over from your CVS target that is now under My Computer, delete the control for the camera resource and recreate it.  I have had experience in the past where this fixed odd behavior brought on by copy-pasting.

The example VI did not detect my camera, and I tried replacing both the IMAQdxOpen Camera.vi and the control for it, and that did not work either.

Could you check your firewall to see if you have given NI MAX and LabVIEW the same permissions?  Maybe try turning off/pausing your firewall to see if the behavior stays the same.

Could you also try accessing the camera via it's IP address in LabVIEW? "ip:<ip addr>" syntax to specify a camera instead of using the camera drop-down.

The firewall was the issue.  My allowed programs had 2 listings for LabVIEW 15.0.1f1 Development System.  On one, the far left box was checked, and on the other, it wasn't, so I checked that one as well, and now my camera shows up on my dropdown box, and my program is running.  Thank you!
