I wish to deploy a vi on a standalone machine without labview. I use imaq for a firewire camera acquisition and I basically get the standard deviation of the pixels in the image.
In the installer I built with vi ( as an executable) I included the Labview runtime engine and the Vision runtime engine.
As the free vision runtime engine has been already deployed elsewhere I need to obtain a new one.My question is;is this license a once off fee or is it an annual fee. If it's a once off license all is good, but if it's an annual fee I'm afraid I'm goosed.
Secondly, is it possible to do the above without NI Vision and so would not need a vision runtime licence?

It is a one time fee. You can't do it without buying the license. The good news is it includes the driver license for vision acquisition, which you need anyway for the firewire drivers.

Also keep in mind that for acquisition from firewire (assumed that you using IMAQdx) and analysis you will need two Run-Time Licenses on the target PC:
Vision Acquisition Software https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/product/vision-acquisition-software.html
Vision Develpment Module Run-Time https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/product/vision-development-module.html

Thanks Andrey. But according to Bruce the Vision Runtime license already includes the drivers for image acquisition. Is this correct? I am using a firewire camera.

Ah, sorry, in the past that was separate license. Now it seems to be included: "Run-time license for running any application built using the NI Vision Development Module - includes NI Vision Acquisition Software for acquiring from GigE Vision, IEEE 1394, and other cameras"
Good news.

So it basically means that if I develop any image application using NI VIsion and try to distribute it free off our website, I can't. Unless each downloader/user buys a license?
Or does it mean, I buy a single license, and therefore am allowed to distribute applications free of cost?

That's it. Each user needs a license.

Just a follow up question based on the purchasing of the run-time license. Can I buy one based on my subscription and then distribute it with the executable? Or must the end-user purchase the run-time license? Huge difference in cost...

That might be a question for an NI salesman. However, I cannot imagine that you can mix your subscription with your customer's executable. Actually, each executable that I distribute to a customer is bundled with a vision runtime license - unless he already has one.
