PCIe-8231 Does not show up in MAX

Solved!
Go to solution

I recently purchased a PCIe-8231 GIGE Vision Board.  After installing the vision software on the PC, I installed the card as described in the setup manual.  Max does not detect the card, and when I plug in the camera I purchased (Basler Ace Camera, acA2000-50gc, 2048 x 1088, 50 fps, Color, PN 782654-01) nothing changes.  However, under device manger, windows does detect that the PCIe card is plugged in, and I have assigned the NI driver to the card.  Not sure why it isnt being detected. Thoughts?

The 8231 does not show up in MAX because it is a network card and traditionally are not shown in MAX. Only the cameras themselves will show up.

Since it is found in device manger, that rules out some set of problems. Do you have the network card configured in Windows with the default out-of-the-box settings to automatically obtain an IP address? Same with the camera? Do the network card lights show a link?

I am not seeing any network lights on either the card end or the camera.

Everything is setup per the Basler camera setup:

Camera being used:

782654-01
Basler ace camera, acA2000-50gc, 2048 x 1088, 50 fps, Color
1
HB7604685

Still no luck.  The camera does not show up in MAX, and under the network setting it says there is nothing connected to that cards port.

How are you powering the camera? The 8231 does not provide power so you need to power the camera through a PoE switch, injector, or external power supply through the I/O connector.
