Slow trigger image in IEEE 1394 cameras

When I using IEEE 1394 Camera (Prosilica EC 750, driver version NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras v2.0.1) trigger function, it found that the speed is very slow, ~ 6 - 7 images / second, and the displaying image on the monitor is only ~ 1- 2 image / second.

I use the labview program provided by N.I ( NI\LabView 7.1\Examples\IMAQ\IMAQ1394 examples.llb --> Triggered Grab.vi)

is any item need to set for this camera ?

Thanks !

Hi Metron,

In Measurement and Automation Explorer, check that Video Mode is set to the resolution and frame rate you expecting.  If so, is the camera acquiring at the correct speed in Measurement and Automation Explorer?  When you perform the triggered acquisition, the frame rate set in the Video Mode must be greater or equal to the trigger speed.  If this is setup correctly, try decreasing your Shutter Speed.

Dear Ryan M.

It found that the result is almost the same, even we change  the frame rate, shtter speed.

But the displaying result in MAX is correct (because there has no trigger function in MAX)

Is any setting need to be changed for the trigger image process ?

Thanks !

Hi Metron,

I do not have any information on the resolution, video mode, trigger speed, and shutter speed you are using.  Assuming these parameters are all okay, I would make sure the camera is sending all the necessary data.  Your Prosilica EC 750 camera has a configurable Sync-Out line.  Try looking at the Trigger Ready Signal vs. your trigger.  If your trigger pulses while the Trigger Ready Signal is deasserted, that trigger will be ignored.  If this data looks fine, check the exposing signal.  The number of pulses per second of this line will indicate the number of frames the camera is sending to your computer.

The Prosilica EC 750 has a 20ms or larger delay after the trigger before it takes an image.  Maybe that has something to do with your problem.  Prosilica now have a version EC750b that only has a 2 us delay.

Hope it helps,
gert

I also have the EC750b and I just sent it back this morning to Procillica to upgrade it to the 2 us trigger delay.  So maybe you can do the same?
