Solder Joint Inspection

I am new to the machine vision world and need some guidance with a simple solder presence inspection.  I am using Ni Vision 7.1, and need to check the presence of 2 solder joints. Attached are 2 pictures that represent the parts the joints to be inspected are at the top-right and bottom-left of the part.  I am experimenting with color pattern matching with littlerepeatable success.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rohman,

Perhaps you could build a ROI related to that pattern (the three triangles). The ROIs would be small enough to just be the two solder points. Then you could look at the color histogram to see if you're getting a yellow spike (since it looks yellow/gold).

Does that sound workable?

You could better try to match patterns rather than Colour to set the orientations and then

use colours to match patterns for solder detection at each of these locations.
