USB/directshow camera not visible in max/imaqdx

I've got a Chameleon USB2.0 camera from Point Grey and I'm having problems getting it to show up in MAX.

I'm running a fresh installation of labview 2012, MAX 5.3.3f2, IMAQdx 4.0, IMAQ 4.7 on a windows 7 x64 lenovo T420 laptop.

I'm aware of the problems with registering the DirectShow filters for the Point Grey cameras:  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7DF278AF77461951862579AD0063B9AD

I've tried all of the various driver versions from Point Grey, and currently have installed the v2.4 x86 version

The camera is visible using AMcap, a lightweight DirectShow viewer, so it seems that the camera is operational and the DirectShow interface is functional.

I had an older version of Labview installed, and the camera was visible in MAX.  I wanted to upgrade versions but didn't use the NI update service and just downloaded the various files from the website.  About the time I upgraded MAX to 5.3 the camera disappeared from MAX.  I assumed some problem with the upgrade, so I completely uninstalled both Labview and the camera drivers and tried a fresh installation, but I still can't see the camera in MAX.

Any ideas about how to get my camera to show up in MAX?

Thanks!

Is your version of AMCap a 32-bit or 64-bit version? If it is 64-bit then it might indicate you are missing/don't have registered 32-bit DLLs for your camera (MAX is a 32-bit app). You could try and see if the camera is discovered under 64-bit LabVIEW as another clue. This wouldn't really explain why it would stop working when you upgraded NI software though...

It is 32 bit, and I have the 32 bit Point Grey drivers installed.  Any other ideas?

Did you find anything?  I have two Mightex USB cameras hooked up and believe that I might be having the same problem.

I can actually get both devices to show up in AMCAP, but the 2nd camera that I have hooked up to the computer doesn't show up in NI-MAX.

I have spoken with the camera manufacturer and they have verified that these DirectShow drivers have worked on old versions of LabVIEW.  Please get back to me if you know anything regarding this error.

Hello Matthew,

I have seen situations where the problem actually lay with the USB port being used. Can you confirm that a single camera is visible in NI MAX when connected to any of your USB ports? Just to confirm, you can get both cameras to appear simultaneously using AMCap?

Cheers,
