Hello,
I have installed Vision Builder 2012 on my personnal computer (Windows 7). I want to communicate with a NI Smart Camera 1742 by Ethernet.
I reset the IP settings of the smart camera.
When I start Vision Builder, my smart camera appears in the target list, unconfigured (IP adress 0.0.0.0). When I configure the target, in the panel "Network settings" I choose "Edit IP settings" and then "Suggest values". Those values allows me to go on the next step of the configuration :
At the end of the configuration, after the camera has rebooted, a message says "Remote target successfully configured !". Then the program refreshes the target list - but the smart camera is still unreachable, as you can see in this screenshot :
If I go in NI MAX, I have a unknown error : "A problem occured when retrieving target information".
All firewalls are desactivated, and my computer is not linked to another network (except the Wi-Fi connection for internet access).
What is the matter ? Are the IP settings wrong ?
Thanks for your help !

Something is preventing your Smart Camera from taking on the IP settings you suggested.
The address it has in your last picture is link-local meaning that it couldn't find any way to configure itself.
Is the target restarting after you configure the IP address?
Is this on a local network? Could your IT have settings that do not allow that address?

Thank you very much for your help !
Yes, the target restarts after the configuration of the IP adress. I am on a local network.
But today I solved the problem ! I wrote an IP adress at random "169.254.x.x", different from the one suggested by Vision Builder, plus the convenient gateway :
and it worked !
Thanks again for your attention !
