What is the shutter speed of the 1722 camera?

Solved!
Go to solution

Does anyone know what the shutter speed of the 1722 camera is?  I only see the framerate in the documentation, but not the actual shutter speed range.  I know this will depend on lighting.

I'd like to know if this camera is suitable for capturing an obvious target without blur, moving at 0.5 m/s on a conveyer line.

The minimum exposure time of the 1722 is 36.28 microseconds and the exposure time increment is 31.2 microseconds.

For more detailed information that what's in the datasheet, you can download the manual.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.  I saw the formula in the manual, but not the exposure time itself, so that was useful info.

Figure out what size 1 pixel would be in the field of view in metric (m, mm, etc.) = D

Figure out how long it takes the conveyor to move that distance.  = D / 0.5 m/s

That is roughly the time you have to take your picture with one pixel of blur.  Half that time will probably make the blur go away completely.

Now just buy some really bright lights so you can set the shutter speed that fast.

Almost any camera can take pictures really, really fast.  The problem is having a light that is bright enough and uniform enough to get a good image.
