Why Can't Get Color Images from My ADS Pyro IEEE1394 Camera

This is a list of our equipment   :

Windows98SE
LV6.0i
NI-IMAQ for IEEE1394
Advanced IMAQ Library for LV
Pyro IEEE1394 Webcam from ADS

Unfortunately, we do not see any colors in the RGB Modus.
We have visited your perfect support web sites and found a similar description.
Document ID: 2DGHH1SN (09/17/2001)
We used your support tip (change 1394IMAQ.sys and clean-up MAX) and anyway we do not
see colors even though the PYRO IEEE1304 Webcam support color mode.
We think the hardware of both IEEE1394 webcams (Pyro and IBOT) are the same.

Did you received any feedback from the customer whos has the problem with the Orange
Micro IBOT IEEE1394 webcam ?
It is highly interested for us.

We appreciate y
our help and many thanks for reading and thinking about this manner

Stephan. We have an Orange IBOT in house which we used to verify that the solution in the document you found works. On a related note, we will receive an ADS Pyro camera in house this week to work on the exact same problem you're seeing with the color. We should have a solution shortly.

Stephan.
I have the PYRO WebCam working in color on my Windows 2000 machine. I had to upgrade to Service Pack 2 and then install the new IMAQ 1394 beta driver. Unfortunately, I'm not sure which one fixed the problem. I recommend updating Windows and if that doesn't fix the problem, then try the new beta driver. To receive the new driver, please go to www.ni.com/ask and call the toll free number that comes with the web generated service request number. One of the IMAQ engineers in the group will give it to you.

Please let us know if the problem persists.

Dear Kyle

It sound good !
Thank you for your response. We have recieved the IEEE1394 1.1 beta driver.
Unfortunately, we are not able to install this driver on a Win98SE machine.
If we start setup.exe it appears a error : unable to load niresdeu.dll and the installation
stops immediatley.
We have beem tested the installation procedure on a Win2000 machine and it works fine,
but we would like to use a Win98SE machine as well.

Please, could you help us again ?

We appreciate your help in this case and hope to read from you !

Dear Kyle,

We have recieved the IEE1394 Driver 1.1beta2 and
we see color in the T&M explorer and LabVIEW 6.0 aswell
!!
It is good to know, that the camera works in color mode.
Unfortunately, the VisonBuilder support does not run with the beta2 driver and we see only the simulation mode.
We have update the Win98SE machine to Win2000 SP2+ one and all works well.
We appricate the perfekt support at ni.

warm regards,

Stephan

Stephan. I have the beta2 installer running on my XP machine and the interface shows up in Vision Builder 6. However, the camera interface will only show up in Vision Builder if it shows up and in working in MAX. Also, I believe Vision Builder 6 is required for the 1394 driver to appear.

If you have Vision Builder 6 and the camera is acquiring images in MAX, then the 1394 driver probably didn't add support for Vision Builder 6. Please run the installer again and choose to do a Custom install. The next menu will give you a list of software to support with NI-IMAQ 1394. Make sure the Vision Builder 6 option is not crossed out and then continue the installation. This will install support for Vision Builder 6 an
d hopefully fix the problem.

If the problem persists, please let me know.

Dear Keyle,

Thanks for your response. Now, we have a running XP Home Edition Notebook machine.
We have installed first LabVIEW6.0i then ADVANCED IMAQ VISON > IEEE1394 for IMAQ beta2 + MAX2.2 and finally
VISION BUILDER 6.0
We have observe the VISION BUILDER support during the custom installation process of NI-IMAQ 1394 b2 and unfortunately we running in the same problem and could not use the great VISION BUILDER together with our
IEEE1394 camera. We see a big opportunity to develop our apllications faster and improve the time to market.

It is possible to enclose the difficult situation ?
Up to now, we are very happy to see colors in MAX and
LV.

Yes, we notice that we use a beta driver and we could
not expect that it works perfect. But you wrote, that you have a running VISION BUILDER support with a XP machine and we are in a good mood to read this.

We appreciate your help in this manner and thanks again
