Why can't I do pattern matching on a 16bit *.tif image?

First of all, I have 6.1 IMAQ....NOT 5.0, but the website won't let me email or call NI because I accidentally selected that I had ver 5.0 instead of 6.1. Restarting the browser and clearing the cookies did not help! Arrrgghhhh!

Now for the problem. I have a 16bit Tif grayscale image. I can not do pattern matching because the menu option is *grayed* out, unlike it is for 8 bit images. What's up?

Several of the image processing routines, including pattern matching, only work on 8 bit images. I think some of these limitations were removed in Vision 7, but I am not positive.

To process your image, you will need to convert it to 8 bit first.

Are you having the same problem that Steve reported with Request Support?
Please make sure that your browser is set to Check for Newer Versions of Stored Pages. If not, your browser may show you cached pages that won't update as you expect them to.
