Why does my P107 application look for an Isaiah board when a psi board is installed?

PC running Windows 2000 Professional. Loaded NI-FlexMotion 4.5 and Flexmotion (PCI) board (provided by customer) installed; Windows recognized the board and loaded the drivers. Also installed four additional files (provided) and updated firmware. Changed .ini file per instruction. Started P107 application; seemed to start fine but looks for an ISA board and will not continue. Any help would be appreciated. More specifics available on request.

What is the 'P107 application' you are running? Is the program looking for a specific board - an ISA board? Does your system correctly recognize your motion board? Which motion board are you using?

The latest driver for flexmotion boards is NI-Motion 6.1.5 (must install 6.1.2 and update to the latest release using the 6.1.5 patch). However, if you are adding additional files, editing the ini file, etc, I would recommend contacting the supplier of such documentation/program for help since this sounds like a custom application.

Thank you for the additional questions. I am trying to run FlexMotion ver. 4.5 (but also have 5.1.1) The program error says 'can't find ISA board' and that's the problem. A PCI FlexMotion 6c board is installed.
I am willing to try the newer software without the additional software files added and ini file edit. I was handed this problem child but am keen to find asolution. Where can I get 6.1.5? My disk of 5.1.1 says 'Spring 2001'

Just realized that I do have ver 6.1.5 but not the patch. How can I get that? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

NI-Motion 6.1.5 is the latest version. The patch I refered to updates NI-Motion from 6.1.2 to 6.1.5.

One more question; is there anyway to test this install other than hooking to a pleater? Reason being is the company has to take theirs offline in order for me to test this and there's been a history of this particular configuration being a problem. It's a year old issue and I'm trying to attack it fresh. (this machine is supposed toi be a backup to the primary) Thanks

Bradson,

I am unfamiliar with your setup, however, if your motion setup is a servo system and you need to test output and feedback, hooking the system up to your motors and drives is really the best way to test it. It would require a fairly elaborate test system to do otherwise.

If you system is an open loop stepper system, you could use counters to track position etc.

It would now appear that I'm missing a couple of components. After disconnecting the in-production unit to test the one I'm working on (supposed to be the backup) I noticed that there was a 'gear screw' (looked like a parallel port) connector that I don't have. Additionally, there were two 9-pin male ports (looked like serial) that had cables in them, that I don't have either! All I have is the Flexmotion 6C PCI card. There is a 50 pin auxillary conector on the 6C card... does something cable off that? I would I get these missing components? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The following link is to the two types of UMI's (Universal Motion Interfaces) National Instruments has - the UMI-7772/4 and the UMI-7764. Perhaps one of these is what you are referring to.

Also, you can find the cables on the same page under the 'Cables and Adapters' link of the left. If you select which country you are in, the product part numbers and pricing will show.

The 50 pin auxiliary connector on the back of the Flexmotion 6C board is to access the Digital I/O. The user manual has info about the connections in ch 5.
