Hey,
im thresholding a grayscale image, and need to find the area of the bright region in mm\cm's. how do you use the calibration vi's to calibrae pixels in to square real world units? cheers

You can use the conversion VI's however I would apply a scale after calibrating your image. It depends if your looking at a 2D or 3D cross-section.
2D Particle analysis can be performed for the surface area.
