Dear all,
i'm trying to develop an algorithm to use ordinary USB camera to read a bimetallic thermometer's needle position so that it can recognize the real-time temperature. Does anyone have any idea how to do it or have ever done similar things before? please give advice.
Many thanks
Brad

Hey Brad,
First of all, does your USB camera support direct show? Starting in August 2009, Vision Acquisition Software officially supports DirectShow imaging devices as part of the IMAQdx driver. Then you would use Vision Development Module for image processing

Once you acquire images with IMAQdx, VDM includes an example that shows you how to process them to read a meter.

Hi there,
Thanks for your info.
Could you please give me the source file for the METER EXAMPLE? I don't have Vision Development Module installed on my PC.
Thanks

You wouldnt be able to open the VI if you dont have VDM installed... But here it is in 2009
