Hi.

Currently I am using NI Vision LabVIEW 2010. I am looking for ideas to differentiate colors of abnormal condition in a boiler with its surrounding. Attached is the picture I am working for. In red circle is the abnormal condition. I am not sure if pixel value or another functions would serve my purpose best.

The feature you are pointing out in the pipe is purely subjective in nature.  You need known quantities to work with.  Also, simply looking into the pipe may not be adequate to obtain reliable results.

You may need to use a special lens and illumination to insure that the surface of the pipe is imaged in a repeatable manner, using uniform lighting.

OptoEngineering has such lenses.  We use them a lot for this type of application.
