how to measure the number of teeth on the gear blank

Hello,

Is it possible to measure the Number of Teeth on the gear blank using IMAQ Vision? If yes can anyone help me how to measure the Number of Teeth on the gear blank. I need the procedure for measuring the number of teeth.
The IMAQ Vision I have is Version 7.1 with labview version 7.1.

You can use binary morphology to isolate the teeth from the gear and then use particle analysis to count the teeth. Use adaptive thresholding to get a binary image of the gear first.

For measuring and counting gear teeth, the usual method is counting edges with a circular region of interest. Do you have any images that you could send in for us to bang on? I've attached some images I have here of gears.
