The clarity has defenitely improved but the illumination is still patchy. What is the lighting that you have used? HAve you tried dome lighting?

yes, dome lighting..long led white lamp (almost like pendafluor lamp).

ic...the light not as shown in the web link...I am not sure whether we can change the light or not since it already fabricate and attached with the conveyer for end user. Maybe we have to figure out on how to tune the illumination without changing the lamp..

If the lighting is fixed then i suppose the maximum you can do is change the angle a bit and try to avaoid that white band that will hinder your processing. Can you also show us what are the defects that you are trying to identify?

The end user wants to identify the difference colour of the fruit, which can compare which one is the ripe,unripe and too ripe. I think the end user has selected the thorn of the fruit to differentiate which each other. but the identification is using other software and other algorithm. The labview (my task) is only used to detect (pixel) and save the image when the fruit at the center of the camera.

And are you using any through beam sensor?
