imaq speed

I have a vision system using an NI-1422. I have an application where it takes longer than I'd like to process an image. I've time the various calls (mine and NIs) and found the bottleneck seems to be imaqQuantify (). Is the processing for IMAQ functions done on the board or on the PCs processor? Currently I'm using a system having a 80486 processor at 533MHz (according to a diagnostics app I have) running Windows 98SE.

If the image processing is done on the PC, might I be able to decrease the analysis time by upgrading to a faster CPU?

TIA!

Hi Jmevens

What version of Vision are you using? I know on our latest version our computer minimum specifications are 833mhrz and 256 MB of ram. It looks like your system falls below this value and upgrading it would most likely see an increase in performance. Our frame grabbers collect raw image data and stream it to the system ram where it is then processed from so updating to a new PC would most likely give you the performance you are looking for.

Eric,

I'm using NI-Imaq version 2.21. The computers I use are pretty old; from your description of operations looks like a CPU upgrade is in order!

Thanks.

Jesse
