matching the mouse pointer

Hi,

I'm trying to get the position of the mouse from an image. I cant have any VIs running on the comp, hence I need to take an snapshot of the screen with a camera and search for the pointer. Tried to create a geometric matching template, but the vision assistant says there's not enough features to create a template for geometric matching. Pattern matching will probably not be the wised option because the changing backgrounds and the pattern matching may easily create false matches.

Any ways around this?

Hello JChec,

I would try Pattern Matching as well to see if this works. If you still have problems detecting the mouse pointer, I would try customizing the mouse pointer so that it has more distinct features. This can be done in Control Panel >>  Mouse >> Pointers. A different scheme for mouse pointers might help.
