I have a project in hand to automate a quality check procedure.
A white wire containing blue and red wire's is cut, unsleeved and stripped.
Can a camera be used to view the worked out end and hence after image processing, tell the length stripped and unsleeved?
I just want to knw whether a white, blue/red and copped wire can be separately identified after image processing fastly( in 1 sec)?
Do reply on this.

Hi There,
The short answer is yes, this can be done. However, as with any machine vision project your lighting, lens and camera choices will make a big differenece in how reliable your quality check is. The orientation of your product is also important, as is the repeatability of that orientation.
The use of color filters may make it easier to tell the difference between sheathed, unsheathed, and stripped wires.
A modern PC with a well programmed vision application should be able to perform this inspection in under a second. But this will vary widely depending on the enviroment and how the application is programmed.
