pci 1408 and imaq software

Hi,

I have labview 8.5 installed in my desktop with a ni PCI 1408 frame grabber. The frame grabber is connected to a
Astrovid StellaCam video camera.

After properly installed the driver for the frame grabber, I can see IMAQ PCI-1408 frame grabber in Measurement
and Automation Explore. However, when I tried to continuously acquire video signals from there, I got weird
results. Sometimes I saw stripes, sometimes I can see one image but it did not update at all. Sometimes I was
told "acquisition time out" and I need to reduce the window size - I tried to reduce it from 640*480 to 80*60, but
it won't help.

Then I decided to use NI Vision Acquisition Express program for better luck. However, the software can not
find any "Acquisition sources for Local host" although I click on the refresh button again and again - and at the
same time the Measurement and Automation Explore told me that IMAQ PCI-1408 is working fine. So I am
stuck here now...

Please let me know what I need to do to get the frame grabber/Camera to work properly.

Thanks

Ok, finally I found out that PCI1408 is not compatible with IMAQ4.0 with comes with my Labview 8.5. Too bad.

I tried to remove the IMAQ package from my Labview installation, and then install IMAQ3.1.3 which should be compatible
with PCI-1408. But still it is not working.

Do you have any suggestions on driver install? I would like to keep Labview8.5 and PCI1408 both on my computer.

Thanks

Hi yfu,

After uninstalling the newer drivers, do you still see the camera in Measurement and Automation Explorer?  What video format is your camera?  The PCI-1408 only supports RS-170/NTSC (60Hz interlaced) and CCIR/PAL (50Hz interlaced); see the manual for more information.  The 1408 is an older card; have you been using with another camera or computer?  If so, what were the results?
