uniform lighting

Can you guys share the most uniform lighting u have used.I recently used a dome light and found it to amazingly uniform.Though now the problem is illuminating non-uniform objects.Any suggestion will be of great help

It depends on how you define non-uniform objects; differences in height with steps, curved and shiny, texture variations, opaque and transparent areas, dark and light areas....
Sometimes you have to combine different lighting methods. When faced with an illumination task, I pull out all my various light sources and start to experiment, it's kind of a fun challenge!

I need to inspect a semi circular object and i concluded using a dome light at an inclined position would solve the problem but it is very unconventional
