vision assistant ni ocr help

hi ,i am using vision assistant 7.1 reading some characters on an image, and it works but if i want to create a VI a message comes that

ni ocr is not installed, i am using academic version, is it on the cd so i can ask the admin to install it ?

Hello Benarivo,

it sound like that the Vision Development modul was installed before the Labview version was installed.
Therfore you miss the vision function in labview.
If you install the Vision Development modul again you should also find the ocr function in the Labview 7.1 version.
Or do you use another LV version?
Because you need the same Vision version as Labview version.

thanks for the help! but the labview is version 7.0 and vision assistant is 7.1.1 and was installed after labview... is this the problem ? i was lookin on vision dev.mod. cd and labview 7.1 to but no NI OCR element i ve found...

Hi,

At the time you bought your version of Vision, NI was selling separately an OCR package: NI OCR. That's what you're missing.

Since then, we consolidated our offering and NI-OCR is now included in the Vision Development module. Vision Development module contains the Vision API for all the ADEs we support (LabVIEW, CVI, C++, Visual Basic), and also includes Vision Assistant.

If you want to create the LabVIEW VI that contains the OCR code, you need to update your Vision library to the latest version of the Vision Development module, since we're not reselling that OCR package separately anymore.
